A 34 year old Bangladeshi migrant worker, Sikdar, who was diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer in April 2020 has returned home to see his family.
The Migrant Workers’ Centre started a donation campaign on giving.sg to raise funds to evacuate the migrant worker home.

As of Monday morning (May 25), S$51,018 has been raised from 427 donors.
While the medical evacuation was estimated to cost about S$48,000, the fundraising target was set at S$60,000 for any excess to fund the needs that may come to help support his return home, MWAF said on the fundraising page.
When Sikdar realised that his cancer has spread throughout his body and that no treatment was possible, he opted for euthanasia. But Sikdar hope that he could return home to see his six year old son.

Crowdfunding only started about 24 hours before Sikdar got home and it was indeed amazing that the targeted amount was hit in such a short time frame.

Good job to all individuals who took part in this campaign to bring Mr Sikdar home.
