21 Y.O MOTORCYCLIST INVOLVED IN TPE TP CHASE ARRESTED

According to the media release, a 21-year-old motorcyclist and a 18-year-old pillion were arrested for dangerous riding and preventing the course of justice. The incident happened on the 27 May 2020 at 1620hrs along TPE.

The 21-year-old man was stopped by the traffic police on the expressway. Instead of cooperating, he decided to speed off which lead to a 5km traffic police chase. During the chase, the duo had violated several traffic offences including beating the red light and riding against traffic.

The duo managed to escape from the police after riding between pillars at a multi-storey carpark at Ang Mo Kio Ave 5. The police later identified the duo with the help of the CCTV and put them under arrest within 11 hours.

After further investigation, the 21-Year-old motorcyclist was found riding without a motor license. The duo was investigated for breaching the circuit breaker measures as well.

According to the law, anyone convicted for dangerous riding will face a jail term up to 12 months and/or fine up to $5,000. Anyone convicted for preventing the course of justice will face a jail term up to 7 years and fine.
