ELECTRICITY & PHONE EXPENSES COUNTED AS TAX DEDUCTIONS IN 2021

All Singaporeans who have been working from home during the circuit breaker period is eligible for tax deductions for work from home expenses during next year’s income tax filing.

The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) stated that workers will be able to claim deductions against employment income for expenses incurred “wholly and exclusively” for work.

The expenses claimable would include electricity and phone bill expenses which are incurred while working from home.

According to IRAS, those who incur work-related charges this year can claim their tax deductions in 2021’s income tax filing.
