
According to a media release, 33 men aged between 28 to 81 were arrested for their suspected involvement in illegal gambling.
According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) worked with several police stations islandwide to conduct a joint operation on the 03 Jun 2020 in an effort to reduce illegal gambling activities such as horse betting in Singapore.
The raid was carried out in areas such as Jalan Kukoh, Toa Payoh and Eunos Crescent. During the operation, several types of gambling equipment and $9,003.80 were seized by the police on the scene.
Investigation is ongoing.
The 33 men were also investigated under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020 for breaching social distancing measures.
According to the Betting Act, anyone convicted for illegal gambling will face a jail term up to 6 months or a fine up to $5,000 or both. Any convicted for bookmaking will face a jail term up to 5 years or a fine up to $200,000 or both.
