
According to a media release, a SAF navy officer has been charged for his alleged involvement in an arson.
The incident happened on the 12 Sep 2017, the accuse and one of his subordinate were drinking at a KTV located at Forch Road. After being approached by a Vietnamese prostitute the duo decided to engage her for a threesome at a nearby hotel.
Threesome rejected
The subordinate of the accuse had checked in to the hotel with the prostitute first before the accuse join them later. After being spotted by the hotel staff, the staff told accuse that he has to leave the room as the room is only meant for 2 people.
The accuse then asked the staff if they could change to a room that can accommodate 3 people but he was rejected. After being rejected the accuse left the room and went to the back of the hotel to smoke and out of anger, he then set the hotel back door on fire with a pile of towels and left the scene.
The police were alerted, with the help of the CCTV the police managed to identify the accuse and when up to the room of his subordinate for investigation. However, his subordinate has denied knowing him when questioned by the police.
After further investigation, both men were found to be colleagues in Tuas Navy Base. According to the subordinate, he lied to the police because he was afraid he will be marked by the accuse back at work due to his betrayal.
The Subordinate had pleaded guilty to providing false information to the police and was sentenced to 10 days detention. As for the accuse, he denied that he had committed the crime and the case be adjourned until 02 July 2020.
