According to a media release, Chinese researchers has developed a potential COVID-19 vaccine that shows a positive result when testing it on animals. As there are no safety issues raised, human test with more than 1,000 participants will soon begin.
The vaccine is known as BBIBP-CorV, it is an induced high-level neutralising antibody that can prevent COVID-19 from infecting cells in the tested animals. The results supports the further evaluation of BBIBP-CorV in a clinical trial.
BBIBP-CorV is among 5 vaccines which will be used for testing on human in China. There are more than 100 different types of vaccines being developed around the world. BBIBP-CorV does not raise any safety issue with animal testing and is able to generate an immune response in the animal. it also did not trigger antibodies that could boost the virus.
