According to a media release, an 18-year-old junior college student was sentenced to 21 months probation for his involvement in taking upskirt videos of women in the public. The accuse was charged with insulting the modesty of women and violation of the firm act.
The incident happened on the 24 Nov 2018 around 3.51 pm at a Daiso outlet located at Plaza Singapura. The youngster was shopping for some stationary when he spotted the 26-year-old victim.
He then decided to take an upskirt video of the 26-year-old, the accuse pretends to choose a notebook beside the victim. While he was squatting down he then places his phone user the victim’s skirt and recorded a video.
After taking the video, the accuse walks away to look for his next victim. His action was spotted by another customer. The customer then informed the victim about the accuse suspicious behaviour. The customer confronted the accuse and requested to check his phone.
The police were alerted after several upskirt videos were found on his phone. After police investigation, the youngster was found guilty for taking a total of 145 upskirt videos of 86 women between the span of 9 months between Feb – Nov 2018.
