It turns out to be a counterfeit as there were many tell tale signs such as the shoe code was invalid and the quality of the shoe was poor. Dave contacted the seller and informed him of the issues, but the seller gave Dave many excuses and assured him that the item is real. The seller has changed his username in Caoursell.
