MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING STEP SISTER AFTER MOVING IN WITH HER

According to a media release, a 56-year-old man was sentenced to 8 months jail on the 23 Jun 2020 after he assaulted his step-sister while moving in with her.

The accuse has been living in Johor Baru before he moved in with his step-sister on the 16 Mar 2020 just before the start of Malaysia’s Movement Control Order.

The accuse pleaded guilty to 1 charge of voluntarily causing hurt to a vulnerable person.

The accuse has physically and verbally abused the victim from the day he moves in with her. The abuse comes after the victim made small mistakes or whenever he was angry.

“I am a gangster…”

The incident happened between 16 Mar to 26 Mar 2020, the accuse has punched and kicked the victim in her face, body and arm. At one time, the accuse even assaulted the victim while he wears 9 metal rings on his hands.

The police were only alerted on the 26 Mar 2020 after the elder sister of the victim came for a visit. While the victim’s sister is calling the police, the accuse was heard shouting in Malay asking for his drinks and saying that he is a gangster.

The victim was taken to the hospital after the arrival of the police. She was suffering from bleeding from her scalp and multiple bruises on her back jaw and face.

After she discharged, the victim moved in with her elder sister and has applied for a personal protection order against the accuse.

The victim was later assessed to be a vulnerable person who does not have the ability to protect herself.

According to the law, anyone who is convicted of voluntarily causing hurt could face a jail term up to 3 years, fine $5,000 or both.
