
According to the Prime Minister office (PMO), Singapore election nomination day will be on 30 Jun 2020 and polling day will be set on 10 Jul 2020.
The announcement comes shortly after Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong live address to the citizen of Singapore. Mr Lee said that he had advised the President of Singapore to dissolve the parliament and issue the Writ of the election.
According to Mr Lee, he decided to call for election because the Government term is ending soon in the coming April. Beside Singapore is now in a stable position to hold the election after fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
COVID-19 precautions will be in place to make it safe for Singaporean tp vote. Each voter will be assigned a pacific time slot to vote. Safe distancing will be observed and more polling station will be made available to the voter to prevent overcrowding. The vulnerable group such as the elderly will be given the priority to vote before others.
