CUSTOMER COMPLAINS ON IKEA’S BAD SERVICE RECOVERY

A Facebook user, Judky Serophy, took to Facebook to complain on the bad quality and poor service recovery from IKEA. She shared his ordeal when her glass display rack shattered which injured her husband.

Here is what she said in her post which was shared on Complaint Singapore.

To share some awareness to people who want to buy the glass display cabinet, think twice and also ikea recovery service.. IKEA Tampines

Happily went to ikea to purchase some storage furniture for our home on 23/6, around 2pm. Purchased a detolf glass display rack for my collection display. Upon reaching home, me & hubby start to install. To our horror, when hubby lift up 1 of the glass panel exploded right infront of us. (Their shopfloor display, it was labeled with sticker stated tempered glass and it would not shattered if broke.) Luckily hubby close his eye just in time as one of the glass flew to his eyelid and got multiple cut on his hand/ leg/body. The glass shattered all over the living room and also note i have a kid at home at that point of time and lucky he was far away from where we are at. Immediately, i called up ikea to get and answer over this. Their customer service is really sucked up. After getting my transactions slip number and which items am i referring to, she immediately offer me an 1 to 1 exchange before asking if anyone is injured at that point of time. And i asked why would this happen? The reply was this was not the first time it had happen and it can be caused by heat and etc.. If this was not the first time why is it still on sales?? Customer safety is not their piority? So i was abit hestite after hearing that, and 1 to 1 exchange with installations for us, but i had to wait for a week (next tuesday) before i could get it settle and done for it. And she required us to keep all those undamaged parts for a week before they come up and exchange.. ikea expect customer to keep it at home and repack ourself while waiting for them to come? What if repack time explode again? So after hearing this, i was super angry… is this how ikea do recovery?? If this concern safety shouldn’t their recovery system to be immediate rather than wait?

So i requested for an refund instead, same thing the answer was i have to wait until NEXT TUESDAY!!!!! Means i have to keep the items until NEXT TUESDAY!! Up to now 25/6 ikea have not even expedite this issue even they say they will..

And up till now no response from ikea and only waiting for the refund date to arrive and they can just pass with it..
