The mum whose son was abused by an employee Autism STEP has hit back at allegations that the company has given her monetary compensation. In her Facebook post, Safirah Oshin stated that the offer to settle was made in response to the video posted, and no agreement was reached at the moment.
She stated that she is only asking for a refund of the fees that she paid. Safirah stated that the clinical director visited the hospital where he son was being attended to and tried to make her retract the police report which she declined.

She managed to reopen the case in January 2020 but she was informed that a new Investigation Officer had been assigned, which made her feel that the was no progress.
She then proceeded to post the videos online to seek justice. The video went viral and even ministers Desmond Lee and Tan Chuan Jin have spoken out against the incident. The Ministry of Social and Family Development is investigating the incident.
