On Friday morning (4th July), the Civil Defence Force rescued two people from their bedroom after their kitchen caught fire. Another 60 residents were also evacuated.
The fire occurred at 3.45 am in the morning at the kitchen of in the fifth floor unit of Block 318 Ubi Ave 1.
Many people stood downstairs to watch the fire which included several evacuated residents. The Civil Defence Force did not leave until 6 am.
The Civil Defence Force stated that the fire started from the kitchen. After entering through the front door, they used a waterjet to extinguish the fire before rescuing the two people in the bedroom.
The two individuals were taken to Changi General Hospital for inhaling an excessive amount of smoke. The cause of the fire is currently still under investigation.
