A Singaporean man recently took to Facebook to voice his displeasure when he found out that his girlfriend spent his late father’s condolence money on luxury goods.

I am currently feeling lost. This is regarding my girlfriend that I am together with for a couple of years. My girlfriend and I has been quarreling very badly for the past months. My dad passed on recently and there was some condolence money left. This money was for my mum and I to tide over the bad days. However, my girlfriend used it to purchase luxury goods multiple times. Half of the condolence money was spent. I was very upset with her behaviour as she felt that it was alright to spend the money. According to her, this will just be a small fraction of the soon to come assets. I am by no means from a rich family or earning well.
The money is actually very important and significant to my mum and I. Due to this, we had all the quarrels and now she wants to break up with me because she said that I am not treating her like how I used to. She said that I could accept her for who she is for years and why not now? I told her that she wasn’t to this extent in the past and she said that is because she didn’t have the opportunity to do so. Granted, I have always been earning and buying whatever she wants in the past which might cause her to behave like this. However, this recent behaviour overstepped my limit and I am very lost that she’s blaming me for it. I do love her a lot.
