Despite losing the election, Dr Chee Soon Juan went around Bukit Batok and said thanks to those who have supported him.
The following is what Dr Chee posted on his Facebook:
“My dear Batokians, Mei and I want to thank you for taking us into your home and the amazing experience you gave us in the elections. I just wished I had better news to give you.”
“But even though I fell short, I am proud of the campaign that my colleagues and I ran. We stuck to the issues and focused on matters that you cared about.”
“I had an amazing team with me. This is the SDP family that has grown and matured with me. I couldn’t have done it without them.”
“One achievement that stood out above all else was that we got the PAP to commit to not inflating our population to 6.9 million, let alone 10. We will be following the matter closely to ensure that it keeps to its word.”
“I cannot say that the results did not hurt. It is painful. But in the spirit of the Singapore Democrats, we pick up the pieces and press on.”
“I was back in BB this morning to say thank you. The warm smiles that greeted me both melted my heart and, at the same time, steeled it.”
“The road to democracy and freedom is a long one. Again, thank you for opening your door along the way and giving me sustenance. I walk on.”
