The teenagers who drank juice from a supermarket shelf then placed it back on the display shelf have each pleaded guilty to one count of commiting an act of public nuisance/
Earlier this year, Quek Xuan Zhi, 17, filmed Nigel Pang Yew Ming, 18, sipping from the juice bottle.
He then posted the video on Instagram, with the caption “how to spread Wuhan virus.”
The teenagers then apologised after the video went viral and they said that they paid for the juice bottles, adding that they recognise the sensitivity of hygiene in the wake of the pandemic.
Quek’s lawyer said that the video was uploaded on a private account, and that it was a follower who circulated the video causing its virality.
The court called for a report, assessing if both teenagers are suitable for probation.
Quek and Pang will return to court on August 27.
For committing an act of public nuisance, both teens could be jailed for up to three months, fined up to S$2,000 or both.
