According to a media release, travellers who returning to Singapore after visiting or transiting in Japan, Hong Kong and the Australia’s State of Victoria within the last 14 days will be required to serve the stay home notice (SHN) at designated facilities.
They will be tested for COVID-19 before the end of their SHN.
It is not free for all to stay in these facilities. Travellers who are non-Singaporean / PRs and travellers who travelled from 27 Mar 2020 after the announcement of the travel advisory will be required to pay for their SHN stay at the facilities.
The total cost for the stay sum up to $2,200 which includes a $200 swab test.
According to Mr Lawerance Wong, the COVID-19 situation in some countries has not been controlled and the case is still increasing. Therefore control measures must be in place to ensure that the infection and the spread of the virus in the community remain under control.
According to the Ministry of Health, border measures will be updated following the evolution of the global situation. Travellers who are planning to enter Singapore should be prepared to be subjected to the prevailing border measures upon entry which includes paying for their stay at designated SHN facilities.
