According to a media release, a 24-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a group of men after getting drunk at a club after a night of drinking.
The incident happened on 17 Sept 2018, the woman was said to be raped by one man and sexually assaulted by another while another filmed them in the act.
On the 05 Aug 2020, one of the assailants, Tay Boon Huat, 28 was sentenced to a jail term of 10 years 3 months with 5 strokes of the cane.
Tay pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual assault by penetration and an unrelated rioting charge.
Gan Soon Chai, 35, who filmed the act, was sentenced to 15 months of jail and a fine of $20,800 last year.
The case of the 2 other assailants Yap Chun Chieh, 40 and Yong Chun Hong, 31 are still pending. Yap was accused of raping the victim while Yong was accused to have fondled her.
According to the court document, on the 17 Spet 2018, the 4 men went to Club V5 for a drink where they met the victim who arrived at the club at 3.35 AM form another club.
Yap was a manager at the club, he was instructed by his fellow manager Yeo We Chieng, 40 to send the victim home by taxi. Yap was invited by Yong to join them at the chalet when Yong pulled the woman into the car by her hand.
The group arrived at the club at 7.25 AM and Yeo fell asleep soon after he arrived at the chalet.
Later that night the woman went to the club to talk to a friend about the incident where Yap came forward to apologise to the woman for having sex with her.
The woman then alerted the police on the incident.
