Malaysian foreign minister Hishammuddin Hussein was caught on video vaping in the Malaysian Parliament (Dewan Rakyat) in a Twitter post that has since garnered about 650,000 views and went viral on the platform.
Hishammuddin could be seen vaping underneath his face mask.
The minister has since responded with a tweet, apologising for his conduct and promising not to do it again, as well as noting that vaping has been a “new habit” for him.
It’s worth noting that Hishammuddin used to be a heavy smoker who smokes up to three packs a day and he was even hospitalised for coronary artery blockage 7 years ago.
Smoking in the Dewan Rakyat is strictly prohibited and the Malaysian parliament has been declared a non-smoking area since 2018.
