
According to a media release, a 38-year-old Ninja Van delivery man was caught stealing 147 items that worth more than $12,000 from customers in Choa Chu Kang Area.
The man was tasked to deliver parcels in Choa Chu Kang area but he will keep the items that he wants in his van without scanning them into the system.
This happens over a period of 3 months from Feb 2020 to May 2020. The man was caught only after the company conducted an internal audit. Out of suspicion, the manager decided to do a test. The manager placed a bottle of Dettol soap and a Huawei phone into the man’s pallet. If the man is to scan the item he would know that the items do not belong to him.
Sadly, the man did not scan the items. When confronted by the manager the man admitted to his wrongdoing and he was handed over to the police. After investigation, the man was found to have stolen 147 items costing up to $12,104.
The case was adjourned to 18 Aug 2020. According to the law, for criminal breach of trust as an employee, the man could face a jail term up to 15 years and fine.
