A 60 year old lady who belongs to the older golden generation recently shared on Facebook that she does not like to ride in Grab cars as it’s filthy. She also shared on how she has a personal driver and she does not even take public transport or even taxi.
Here is her full post.
Compared to others here, I guess I belong to the older golden generation. Anyone will think someone my age, a fair lady almost hitting a grand 60 years old, will be able to speak freely to my own family members. Without them judging me, chastising me. Right?
Not true. If my son hears this from me, he will rebuke me. If the in laws hear this, well, they probably won’t talk to me anymore.
The in laws occasionally invite me over for dinner. Nice, decent people. After dinner the father always offer to send me home. I always have to decline, and said its fine, I have my driver fetch me back. Sometimes, he will be quite persistent, like how I can give my driver a break. But I always insist, politely, that its fine, my driver is on the way.
I don’t mind the father’s car. Even though its a rather old, beaten Japanese sedan. What I do mind, however, is that its also a Grab car. The father uses it as a Grab driver 5 or 6 days a week, for the past 2 years I believe. Just imagine, the different people who sit in that car, total strangers, every day. Gross. Totally gross. The dirt, grime, dust, sweat, germs, stench, unmentionable filth of countless, hundreds (or thousands?) strangers in that car.
And he expects me, someone who has not taken public transport or even a taxi for goodness knows how many years, to sit in this type of car?
I simply cannot understand why people can allow total strangers to violate and stain their own car like this. For livelihood? The money is pitiful I believe, probably not even enough for a decent vacation.
