
Homestay Lodge at Kaki Bukit Road 3 confirmed five cases of Covid-19 infections, four of which were confirmed earlier, proompting the guest worker dormitory to be classified as an infected group again.
This dormitory was removed from the list of infected groups of August 1 and had 728 cases at one time.
On Saturday (August 22), the Sungei Tengah Lodge was also reclassified as an infected group, adding two more cases. The Ministry of Health said that as of yesterday (August 23), there were 58 asymptomatic cases in this dormitory.
The Sungei Tengah dormitory is the largest guest worker dormitory in the local area and had a total number of 2.203 cases of Covid-19 infections when it was removed from the infected groups.
The Ministry of Manpower revealed in a statement that they have so far issued quarantine notices to a total of 4,800 guest workers in the dormitory, with routine tests to be carried out over the next few days.
Some of the workers were previously infected but are no longer infectious and will be able to resume work.
The ones who test positive will be sent to community facilities or hospitals for treatments.
