MAN ARRESTED FOR DANGEROUS DRIVING @ SHENTON WAY

According to a police media release, a 26 year old man was arrested on the 24 Aug 2020 for dangerous driving after he hits a traffic light with his car and crashed in into a pillar of a building.

The incident happened on the wee hours of 23 Aug 2020, the police were conducting a roadblock at Connaught Drive when they noticed a car driving against the traffic. The traffic police then signaled the driver to stop but the request was ignored.

The traffic police then chased after vehicle before the driver hit a traffic light at the junction between Palmer Road and Shenton Way and crashed into a pillar of a building. The driver then continue to escape the chase on foot. A knife and suspected drug paraphernalia was found in the driver’s car.

Luckily no one was injured from the incident. After investigations, the man was arrested by the police on the following day along Niven Road. Investigations are currently on going.

According to the law, anyone convicted of dangerous driving could face a jail term up to 12 months, fine up to $5,000 or both. For carrying a dangerous weapon in the public, the man could face a jail term up to 3 years with 6 strokes of the cane.
