PAKISTAN FT JAILED 3 WEEKS FOR SUBMITTING FORGED DEGREE FOR HIS PR APPLICATION

A Pakistani national has been jailed for 3 weeks after he had submitted a forged degree for his PR application that was approved back in 1997.

Apparently, the man does not even have a bachelor degree and his highest qualification was a GCE A-Level equivalent. The man was initially sentenced to four weeks jailed by the jail term was shortened to three weeks after the judge felt that the man show remorse for his action.

It was unknown how did the authorities manage to discover the forgery especially when the application was approved more than 20 years ago.

The man is now married to a Singaporean wife and has three children together. In his defence, during the hearing, his lawyer argued that the man ran his own company and did not reply on the PR status for employment purposes or to obtain any advantage for his children.
