The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said that from September 1, Singapore residents with registered SingPass accounts will start receiving notifications on their phones regarding NRIC and/or passport-related matters.

At the moment, residents are receiving hardcopy letters or emails.

Moving forward, notifications will be sent to their SingPass mobile app or via SMS to their registered mobile number.

The notifications when opened, will direct the user to the ICA website and they can then begin their applications/transactions.

The new service was launched in partnership with GovTech, the same organisation behind the SafeEntry QR codes we see all over the country at the moment.

Residents without a SingPass account will continue to receive hardcopy letters or emails.
