The incident was dated 2 years back on 10 Mar 2018 when the man was drinking with his colleagues at a nightclub located at Pan Pacific Hotel. The police were called in for assistance to remove the man from the club.

When the police arrived, the man was escorted out of the club to assist with the investigation. The man was asked to sit against a wall while the police officer verifies his identity. He complied with the request which only lasted for a few minutes.

The man then stood up and challenged the police officers to arrest him and started acting aggressively towards a police officer. The man has repeatedly abused the officer verbally before pushing him on the chest.

During the court hearing, the man’s lawyer said that his client has gone to the club to de-stress from his work at a bank. He has been working in Singapore for the past 14 years and he is even a permanent resident here in Singapore.

The lawyer mentioned that the man was afraid that he will lose his job because of having a criminal record. The man then seeks forgiveness and asked for a chance to apologise to the police officer.

According to the law, anyone convicted of using criminal force against a public servant could be jailed up to 4 years, fine or both. Anyone convicted of insulting a public servant could be jailed for up to 1 year, fine up to $5,000 or both.
