On August 29, the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced that they will be expanding their Covid-19 testing to community groups, to include taxi and private hire car (PHC) drivers, food delivery riders, vendors who are servicing foreign worker dormitories, stallholders at hawker centres, markets and F&B outlets.
MOM explained that this is due to the nature of their working environment where they face high frequency of interactions with members of the public.
Costs fully borne by government
Individuals are encouraged by the MOM to come forward to utilise the tests, which the government will pay for in full.
Previously, the government activated numerous testing operations for groups in the community, which included preschool teachers and staff, as well as residents of residential homes that serve the elderly.
This is on top of testings done on people aged 12-years-old and above with acute respiratory infections.

The Multi-Ministry Task Force also highlighted the importance of not letting our guard down despite community cases being low.
