The Workers’ Party (WP)’s Members-of-Parliament, He Ting Ru and Louis Chua were appointed Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively in an announcement by Sengkang Town Council (SKTC)
The four Sengkang GRC MPs, which included Raeesah Khan and Jamus Lim, will serve as town councillors as well.
The SKTC was formed following the WP’s victory in Sengkang GRC with 52.13 percent of the votes in the 2020 General Election.
The announcement was made on August 29, with the information published in the Government Gazette under the Town Council Act, to inform residents of the details of their key appointment holders.
A total of 12 town councillors will be serving a two-year term from 2020 to 2022.
Lee Li Lian, the former MP for Punggol East SMC, will be serving as an appointed town councillor.
SKTV noted that each town council is served by a slate of appointed town councillors, of which a proportion must be residents of the constituency, which is required by the law.
They added that these councillors were appointed because of their rich professional experience.
