The man, 59-year-old Teo Seng Tiong, was sentenced to 7 weeks of jail and a fine of $500 after he was found guilty of intentional swerving his vehicle into a cyclist in Pasir Ris area. If he fails to pay the fine he will be required to serve 3 extra days on top of his sentence.

The man paid the fine on the same day when he started his sentence. However, due to an error by the court officer, the payment was not recorded into the system. Hence, this has caused the man to serve additional days in jail.

The error was only discovered when the Singapore Prison Service send a letter to the man with the payment receipt. The State Court is currently reviewing its process to prevent such incident from happening again.

They have since issued a letter of apology to the man in regards to the matter.
