
An 18-meter (60 foot) robot designed after the popular Gundam robot from the anime series and manga, just took its first steps.
This is by far the largest robot every created, and is currently still in construction in Gundam Factory Yokohama.
It was seem lifting and lowering its legs, preparing for its debut in October 2020, although many say that it will be delayed due to Covid-19.
Workers were seen whizzing about in cranes around the robot, tweaking the moving parts as tests were carried out.
Weighing 25 tonnes, the robot will have articulated fingers, 24 degrees of freedom and the ability to supports its own weight.
Let’s just hope we won’t need the services of Sarah Connor any time soon.
