MAID SURVIVES AFTER JUMPING FROM HDB BLOCK, EMPLOYER SEEKING HELP FOR $100K BILL

The employers of a maid who jumped off the fourth storey of a HDB block and survived, are turning to the public for help with paying the ever-growing hospitalisation bills of more than $105,000.

Goh Meng Huang, the employer’s son, has set up a fundraising campaign that has raised about $43,000 at the time of writing, to pay for the fees incurred by thier 26-year-old maid from Myanmar who has went through multiple surgeries.

He said that his parents are both hawkers selling Yong Tau Foo, his brother is an office worker and he himself is a student, adding that his family doesn’t have the ability for pay for thebill and might need to hold back on some of the subsequent surgeries for their maid as they didn’t expect a bill of this size.

Goh said that their maid, May Thu, is currently out of danger and recovering, having been moved out of the ICU.

She is still warded in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, although no discharge date has been proposed.

Speaking to Mothership, Goh said that they asked her about her attempted suicide but she just replied “never mind”, leaving them in the dark as to why she did what she did.
