56 Y.O MAN COULD FACE DEATH PENALTY AFTER BRUTAL ASSAULT AT BEACH ROAD

According to a media release, the 56-year-old man who was involved in the Beach Road fight on last Sunday (13 Sep 2020) has been charged in court for murder on 15 Sep 2020.

The police were alerted at 3 pm to the fighting incident on 13 Sep 2020. The 67-year-old victim was found lying motionless on the ground when the police arrived. Subsequently, the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital later that day.

The man appeared in court via video conference today (15 Sep), his charges were read to him in both Mandarin and Hokkien. While the charges were read to him, the man repeatedly said that the victim stole his money without having any expression.

The man was later remanded at Complex Medical Centre in Changi Prison and will return to court on the 06 Oct 2020.

If convicted, the man could face the death penalty.
