According to a Facebook user Ru Zhen, a cat was found with part of a fishing line dangling out of it’s bottom on the 14 Sep 2020.

It is believed that the cat was abandoned as it was found loitering at a tourist spot where there is no residential area around where it was found. Besides, the cat behaves like a house cat as he was tamed and friendly.

The cat was brought to the vet and it was found with a fishing hook and sink in its stomach.

Thankfully, the objects were successfully extracted from the cat’s body after going through a surgery. Ru Zhen then urged the members of the public to fish responsibly and always clean up the area before leaving.

“*ON HOLD AS SUFFICIENT FUNDS ARE RAISED FOR THE TIME BEING – THANK YOU EVERYONE <3*
DONATION APPEAL: EDEN, THE ABANDONED PET THAT INGESTED A FISHING HOOK
It’s a day after Eden’s surgery, and thus far, he has been recovering slowly and well. He is expected to stay at the vet’s for 3-5 days post-surgery for observation and will be discharged according to his progress. Thereafter, we will transfer him to a fosterer’s for recuperation and subsequent rehoming.
With mounting medical costs, we would like to begin to appeal for donations to support Eden’s medical care that has currently reached close to $4K. These costs, while provisional, will increase due to his hospitalisation and post-surgery care at the vet. Currently, a deposit of $5K has been placed before the surgery. The vet will offer a stray discount, seeing that Eden was a victim of abandonment, and this will be applied to the final bill.
We seek everyone’s help to donate to the hefty medical bill for Eden. You may PayNow/PayLah! to 9800 0750, or transfer directly to POSB Savings 249-15076-2. Kindly let us know your name if you have made a donation, as we would like to thank you properly. The finalised invoice will be shared once Eden discharges from the vet. We thank everyone in advance for sharing this appeal and contributions.
On another note, we sincerely thank many friends who stepped forward to help Eden before this fundraiser is published. We are grateful for your support that now has attained around $2K as Eden tides through this difficult phase of his life.
We would also like to take the opportunity to highlight the importance of responsible fishing. Two weeks ago, it was a baby otter that had a prolonged death from a fishing hook in its throat. Now, it’s an abandoned, naive pet that had consumed the fishing hook out of desperation. Soon, it may be a child or even a friend or family member who will bear the consequences of your irresponsible behaviour. So please, dispose of your fishing tackle after use. There is no excuse for you to bring harm to another living being who is also trying their best to survive in this world.“
