MANDAI WASTE DISPOSAL PLANT CAUGHT FIRE, ONE PERSON HOSPITALISED

Following the recent fire that happened at Sembawang, another fire incident at Mandai Waste Disposal Plant was reported yesterday (24 Sep).

Photos and video of the blazing fire have been circulating widely on social media. A Facebook user has shared footage of the incident on the “Friends of Yew Tee” group. From the video, thick smoke was seen covering up those low rise building that is surrounding the plant. The fire is believed to have taken place at the Mandai Estate.

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the fire took place at 228A along Mandai Estate at around 7.10 pm and it was extinguished using 4 jets. Investigations are ongoing and SCDF has confirmed that the fire involved “20m x 20m” of metal.

One person was reported being hospitalised after the incident.
