A 32-year-old Taiwanese woman who recently went through a divorce submitted a request to the court to bring her 3-year-old son back to her home country. The reason for her request is because she feels that Taiwan is safer than Singapore during the pandemic.
However, her request was rejected by the court with the judge stating that Singapore has already progressed into phase three. The situation in other countries might change over time.
The woman’s ex-husband is a 32-year-old Chinese national who is a Singapore PR. The pair got married in Jul 2016 and have been living in Singapore. In 2017, their son was born but problems between the two happened after the birth of their child.
In 2018, the woman brought her son back to Taiwan without her husband knowing. She only returned to Singapore at the end of 2018 after their divorce request was filed. In 2019, the woman again attempted to leave the country with her son. However, her plan was discovered by her ex-husband.
He then filed an application to the court to prevent the woman from leaving Singapore. The application was approved base on the fact that the woman might attempt to leave the country with her son again without the father knowing.
The woman was not allowed to leave the country with her son without her ex-husband approval.
The woman plans to appeal against the ruling of the court after her application was rejected.
