DRUNKEN MAN JAILED AFTER ATTACKING BUS DRIVER 11 TIMES, WENT INTO A FRENZY

The incident occurred on the 16 August 2019. The 69-year-old defendant Seng Oh Kwang pleaded guilty to two charges of causing hurt and drunken behaviour. The judge sentenced him to six weeks’ imprisonment.

The defendant claimed that his granddaughter’s day was October 12, and he wanted to celebrate her birthday with his granddaughter and asked the judge to delay his sentence. The judge approved the request and allowed him to start serving his sentence on October 14.

The defendant is retired, and the victim Thavamani (70 years old) is the captain of the SBS Transit bus and drove bus 186 at the time of the crime.

From 11:42 to 11:55, the defendant approached to harass the victim from time to time. On several occasions, he grabbed the victim’s clothes and hit him in the face with his hands.

Drunken Frenzy

The victim found that the defendant was drunk and felt worried, he then notified the SBS Transit Control Room. After the victim notified the control room, he locked the bus door and waited for the police to arrive. The defendant knew that he was locked in a bus and repeatedly walked to the bus driver and attack him. He hit him on the head or face with his hands, and slapped him on the face.
