MAN ARRESTED FOR LOANSHARKING ACTIVITIES USING BICYCLE LOCK

A 27-year-old man was arrested by the police on suspicion of posting a video of him using a bicycle lock to lock a gate of a HDB unit as he was collecting debts on behalf of a loanshark.

According to a statement from the Singapore Police Force, the police received a report on Sunday (4th) that there was a harassment incident involving a loanshark in Choa Chu Kang Road . A resident received a video of his door of a residential unit being locked with a bicycle lock, and a debt collection note was also left on the scene.

After investigation and with the assistance of the police’s CCTV, officers from Jurong Police Station confirmed the identity of the suspect and arrested him today (8th).

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect believed to be involved in other similar cases in multiple locations across the island.
