A 57-year-old man was sentenced to 18 months of jail after pleading guilty to 2 counts of sex with minor below the age of 16.
According to the court document, the man had sex with the young girl twice in his car. Both met each other on Facebook in January 2019. The man has added the victim on Facebook and began to chat with her.
The man then sent the victim obscene photos of himself and asked the victim for her nude which she complied.
The man has repeatedly asked the victim to meet up with him so that she could perform sex acts with him. The victim agreed to his request and met the man on 04 Feb 2019 at a carpark in Jurong West. Prior to their meeting, the man even told the girl not to wear any underwear or shorts underneath her skirt.
Both soon had sex for the second time.
The offence was only found out after the girl asked her form teacher where she could get a pregnancy test kit as she felt upset after having sex with the man. The girl later made a police report stating that she has been raped by the man on 07 Feb 2019.
During the court hearing, the defence lawyer stated that the man was remorseful for his action. He also suffered from poor health and need to support his family. In the end, he was sentenced to an 18 months jail term instead of a 20 months jail term that was requested by the prosecutor.
According to the law, anyone that was found guilty for sexual penetration with a minor under the age of 16 could be jailed up to 10 years, fined or both.
