3 ARRESTED FOR SELLING FAKE BRANDED GOODS ONLINE

According to a police media release, 3 individuals were arrested for their suspected involvement in selling counterfeit goods online.

On 28 Oct 2020, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducted an operation at various locations including Lorong Ong Lye, Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4 and Anchorvale Road. In the process, 3 individuals consisting of one man and two women were arrested and 3,200 pieces of trademark-infringing goods comprising apparel, fragrance and cosmetic products were sized. In total, the market value of the goods seized was estimated to be more than $40,000.

According to the law, it is an offence for a person to sell or distribute counterfeit goods. Anyone convicted could be fined up to $100,000, jailed up to 5 years or both.
