LOVE SCAM VICTIM TRANSFERS MONEY TO YP SCAMMERS IN EXCHANGE FOR COMPANIONSHIP

According to a media release, 4 YPs aged 15 to 21 years old were investigated for their suspected involvement in cheating.

It was reported that the victim befriended two strangers on a dating site. The duo then asked the victim to transfer money to them which was said to be used to pay for a repair cost that was incurred during a traffic accident. In exchange, the duo would offer their companionship in return.

The victim later alerted the police on 15 Nov 2020 at about 12 am.

After investigations, the police managed to establish the identity of the 4 suspects and arrested them on 16 Nov 2020.

Police investigations are ongoing.

According to the law, anyone convicted of cheating could be jailed for up to 10 years and fined.
