MAN ORDERED TO PAY OVER $11,000 IN PENALTY AFTER FAILING TO REGISTER GST

According to a media release, a 40-year-old man was fined $4,000 after failing to register good service tax (GST) for his online sales. He was also ordered to pay a penalty of $11,802.32. He has become the first person to be convicted for the offence.

It was reported that the man has submitted incorrect income tax without any reason between 31 Dec 2012 to 30 Sept 2013. The sales of his products had exceeded $1 million and he is required to registered for GST by 31 Oct 2013.

However, the man failed to do so and has caused $118,023.23 of tax being due between 31 Dec 2013 to 30 Sept 2015.

The man is known as a bankrupt was later fined and ordered to pay a penalty of $11,802.32.
