A 59-year-old man has been sentenced to 1.5 years of jail after he was found guilty of molesting a minor.
It was reported that the man who was a divorcee used to be the victim’s neighbour. On 27 Sep 2019, the man spotted the victim outside her school. She was on the way home at that time. The man approached the victim and insisted to send her home.
While walking the victim home the man placed his hand on the victim’s waist and the man kissed her before bringing her to a staircase landing. He then grabbed the victim’s hand and attempt to make her touch his private part.
The man then molested the victim and even wanted to french kiss her. The man only stopped after receiving a call from his employer asking him to get back to work. A police report was later lodged by the victim’s mother.
When he was detained by the police, the man admits to his wrongdoing and said that he committed the crime because he was desperate and he has not touched a woman for a very long time.
For his offence, the man could face a jail term up to 5 years and fine. He cannot be caned as he is above the age of 50 years old.
