Facebook user Raj Singh recently posted on Facebook on how Employment Work Pass holders are complaining and stating Singapore is racist and xenophobic. He stated on how these people who rant on social media on how they were restricted from returning back to Singapore. But some of these people would still plot ways to avoid the 14 day SHN. Some even went online to say how they escaped the SHN by transmitting through Dubai and then coming into Singapore.
Here is the full story.
Here’s something I don’t get and maybe you can help me.
Why does Singapore let everyone walk all over it and even wipe their feet on it?
I read posts written by Work Pass holders from Employment Pass to Dependent Pass and LTVP holders (not work permit, not the construction workers or foreign workers)
Some nationalities complaining that Singapore is restricting them from returning back to Sg.
Complaining to their Ministers as well as ours. Writing to MAS, MOM and any other ministries. Also ranting on social media that Singapore is being racists or xenophobic.
Some plotting ways to avoid the 14 Day SHN.Or ways to travel to Dubai and then coming to SgThey don’t understand it’s about keeping the community safe. It’s not about race or nationality.
Singapore is NOT a big hotel. It’s a country. You should be grateful you’ve even been given a work visa in the first place. Then there’s a whole group complaining day and night about the SHN hotels.
A vegetarian had one meal that was not vegetarian sent to him and instead of calling up the hotel- rants on the group. Brings God into the picture too.
Every other post complains about size of hotel rooms – not enough to run about. That they paid $2000 for 14 days and should be entitled to some presidential suite. $2000 a room is $142 a night. Honestly $142 at best is a 3 star hotel- why complain?Size? Rooms are roughly the same size in the country. And still remember you are paying $142 a night. Taking videos of the room and saying it’s a prison cell is just wrong on so many levels.
They complain about rooms with no balconies(very few hotels have balconies), windows that don’t open (I believe most hotels dont want people jumping out), Many of the posts lash out at ICA, MOM and “SHN department”. Stating and teaching each other “call the SHN hotline every few hours until they meet your demands”I get it 14 days in a room can be hard for some maybe most.
But these people KNEW the requirements before booking their trip. Just because you pay $2000 doesn’t mean Singapore owes you a debt. You came for your own purposes. The SHN or quarantine or travel restrictions are about keeping the community safe.
I am disappointed in Singapore. Yes we can be nice and kind- but we don’t need to be a freaking door mat.
This wasn’t the case when the old man was in charge.
Too bad I’m not in charge either.
