HK BOSS FROM BIG 4 COMPANY FORCE EMPLOYEES TO WORK TILL 11.30PM & ON WEEKENDS

A recent email was leaked that suggested big four employees worked longer hours than bankers.

The leaked email which was sent on January 5th by a manager in Hong Kong expected workers to work from 930am to 1130pm at the minimum. The manager even stated “I think midnight is common in peak seasons – it counts on the discipline and responsibility of yourself,” said the manager, adding that his team should also expect to spend one entire weekend day (10am to 7.30pm) in the office, plus another half day working from home. 

A spokesperson from the company gave a statement “We are aware of an internal email sent by a senior manager in Hong Kong to his immediate team regarding his personal expectations on their working hours. The expectations and sentiment expressed in the email do not accord with EY values and we are looking into this matter thoroughly.”
