PILOT TO REOPEN NIGHTCLUBS AMID INCREASE IN COVID CASES

The MTI and the MHA recently announced on Tuesday (Jan 19) that to prevent the formation of Covid-19 clusters in high-risk settings, and to decrease the risk of further community transmission, plans to reopen nightclubs and karaoke outlets specifically will be deferred until further notice.Bars and pubs will be allowed to continue to operate for now.

“It is uncertain when the pilot may be able to commence, given the dynamic public health situation. Agencies will review the commencement of the pilots at a suitable juncture,” the ministries added.

A total of wo nightclubs and 10 karaoke outlets were shortlisted for this pilot program, whittled down from a list of eight nominations for nightclubs and 15 nominations for karaoke outlets. Under this pilot program, customers would need to take the covid test in the last 24 hours before they will be allowed to enter the premises
