Just recently, a Facebook user shares her story of buying food from a duck rice store at Pasir Ris west plaza Koufu.
Firstly, she bought a plate of drumstick rice to eat. After finishing her food she went to make another same order but this time to be packet home. Staff from the store told her different pricing.
Here is her story,
“(not a complaint) at koufu @pasir ris west plaza, roasted duck stall. it’s a new stall. ordered roasted duck drumstick rice to dine there. but duck was really delicious, so i Q again to tabao/takeaway for my mum.“
“but they kinda underhanded this time.“
“i repeated the same order but takeaway, cashier was another guy. he charged me a higher price. so i showed the pic i took(below). he insisted what i had was wing, not drumstick.even tho i know its extremely unlikely(given the distinctive end of the drumstick and unmistaken shape), i gave him benefit of doubt because i thought, they selling whole ducks and should know which parts correctly. right? ans: yes they do know but its whether they are truthful about it“
“he asked me would i like to have the same thing as just now, i said “Ok”when i open the takeaway box, inside is pieces of small random chopped meat spread over to give you an illusion of alot of meat.that’s not the same thing as just now…after he passed the order to the one chopping, he went behind the stall to whisper (but still audible enough) to another guy, something along the line of “dont give drumstick, be careful next time” i think/not sure“
“well they aren’t going to tell you honestly “oh, that WAS a drumstick that you had just now. sorry” right anot? its understandable that businesses can be not 100% transparent.in the world where the customer is always right, i dont think its realistically so. as consumers, i think we can only try to be smarter abit so we don’t 吃亏“
“my mum told me: “yes u had drumstick. only the end of the drumstick is like that. it’s because new stall, attract customers so they will give alot meat if you eat there, so other people can see. if they see alot, they will come and buyif u bring home, theres no one to complain/argue with alr. thats why the meat is alot lesser. (and maybe pathetically few pieces) sometimes even give u other parts of the duck secretlyoutside world, the practices are like this. new stalls are like that. after some time, even the amount of meat u have when u eat there is going to reduce and reduce.“
” “but at least the duck meat was really nice and not ordered from outside/external party. koufu is just newly opened after the renovation, if u stay around the area, come and try when its not peak hours “
