AH LONG ARRESTED FOR LOANSHARK ACTIVITIES WITHIN 5HOURS

On 23 January, a 30-year-old man was arrested for suspected involvement in loanshark activities at Bukit Batok West Avenue 8.

The police were alerted of the case when two residents from the same block found out that their houses were splashed with paint.

Through investigations with the help of police cameras and officers from Jurong Police Division, they tracked down the man and caught him within 5 hours after the case was reported.

According to the police, ” Under the Moneylenders Act, the offence of loanshark harassment for first time offenders carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, with mandatory imprisonment of up to five years, and mandatory caning of up to six strokes.
