K. SHANMUGAM: SINGAPORE HAS SECRET SOCIETY SITUATION UNDER CONTROL

In a written parliamentary reply, Home Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam said that an average of 112 rioting and serious hurt cases have been linked to secret societies domestically each year for the past five years.

He also added that cases that involved the use of weapons have declined over the same period.

Shanmugam highlighted that the secret society situation in Singapore is under control.

The police have conducted an operation between December 21 and January 3 that saw 151 alleged gang members arrested.

The arrests followed on the heels of a number of rioting cases that happened in Decemebr last year near entertainment venues, resulting in serious injuries.
