Last weekend, it was observed that although the large crowds were masked, it was impossible to maintain safe distancing as the area was too overcrowded, with Safe-Distancing Ambassadors struggling to control the crowd even with police help.
The Singapore Tourism Board has since revealed that 34 people have been fined in Chinatown since January 15 for failing to adhere to Covid-19 guidelines; including not wearing masks and gathering in groups larger than 8.
Each of them were fined S$300.
