
Former Miss Universe Singapore Contestant Ashley Rita Wong Kai Lin, 27, was sentenced to six weeks in jail after using her friend’s debit card details which she memorized to purchase items online which accumulated to more than $2,000.

Wong pleaded guilty in December last year to four counts of accessing materials on a computer without authority. Another 27 similar charges were taken into consideration.
In September 2016, she used information from her friend, Mr Andrew Lim, 28, to purchased items on the online platform Lazada.

Lim confronted Wong about the unauthorized transactions and she admitted to the crime. She did this to another friend, Kimberly Qwee, 26, and used her card information to pay for accommodation at Hotel Clover.
For each charge under the Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act, a first-time offender can be jailed for up to two years and fined up to $5,000.
A repeat offender can be jailed for up to three years and fined up to $10,000.
